Title: Baytrill - Egg Withdrawal?
Post by: Foghorn-Leghorn on September 28, 2010, 16:38
Hi, could any of you knowledgeable folk answer me a question re the administration of Baytrill and any subsequent egg withdrawal?

On the leaflet it just states not to be given to poultry laying eggs for human consumption.  It doesn't state that you can start eating eggs again after a certain length of time.

So... can I eat the eggs say after 7 days after treatment has stopped or is that no eggs from said chicken forever more?

Thanks as always. FL

When mine were on Baytril we didn't eat any eggs for the days they were on the antibiotics and added an extra day or two after that.  That would be my recommendation.

Baytril is not licenced for chickens so there is no hard and fast guidance and you should be guided by your vet.

My vet says withdraw eggs for 14 days after last dose of antibiotic.
