Title: water butts

Found out on Sunday that the council sell those blue barrels for about £15. If this is true - yippee and sucks to Thames Water. It's all very well having a hosepipe ban but they should make it a bit more affordable to have a water butt.

What do they store in those blue barrels? I'm not sure I understand why the council have these... ?

Some firm left a load of blue barrels on the site - people have added cheap water butt taps (Wlkinsons) and they work well.

Funny how half the country is in drought and my half is drowning. Maybe time for a big North  / South pipe. Or some enterprising scousers will be down that there London with bottles of Mersey water at a pound a bottle :)

We bought one of those big white tank things that they use to store fruit juice and stuff in.  Ours was new at the time because we thought it would do for a secondary septic tank as our old one is crumbling, but if you can get to an agri auction or sometimes on Ebay you can get them for about £20 and they hold around 200 gallons I think.  If we don't move, then our one is going next to Brian's new workshop to catch the rainwater.  We have the old guttering here as we've had to have the guttering renewed.  And if we do move, I'm taking it with me!!!

somebody recommended old wheely bins - but where do you get them?

OH Is that why we randomly got a wheely bin on our plot?!  :shock: How odd!
