Has anyone eaten one of these odd squash?  I cooked one for tea last night, cut in half, stuffed with spicy rice and mozzarella with a bit of sesame oil on top and baked for a couple of hours. There's a pic in the album in case you've not seen one before.

I was expecting a taste and texture a bit like butternut, but it was exactly like....  MASH!!   :shock:   Fabulous with butter and black pepper.

Is it supposed to be like that, or was it not fully ripe?  We've had no ill effects, in fact I felt better this morning than I have for a few days!  Strange.

yes i have grown and still grow them as they stroe very well over winter and when they are large and ripe for storing they tend to taste a bit like swede which for some reason will not grow on my plot . as for the  turks i think for storing they are great but the skins do get hard  yours big green bloke

I was suprised as well, i used mine for pumkin pie and it was delicious with vanilla ice cream - :tongue2:
