Hello there,

my broody LS bantam has been sitting on 10 bantam eggs since the evening of Sat 2nd April.  They are fresh fertile LS bantam eggs collected that day from a friend. 

As far as I can tell the broody bantam (Bianca) has been sitting tight apart from twice daily feed drink and pooh sessions.   She has not rolled any out or let any get cold as far as I can tell.

There is still no sign of pipping and I can't see any movement or hear any cheeping from the eggs.  I calulate this as day 23 and feel that there should be some indications by now. 

I am wondering how long I should leave it before I give the eggs up as not viable.

leave her be, she will be able to feel if they are viable or not, Do not lift her off now for the next day or so. The 21 days is only a general rule of thumb and yes most will pip around then (some true bantams at 19 days) but others will hang on till day 28 even

An update, one of the eggs just hatched out

As exciting and tempting as it may be stay well away now and let mum get on with her job. hatching can take several days and she will bring her little ones out for their chick crumb and a drink in a couple of days so just keep them placed out ready
