Savoury mince with cauliflower rice for me & mash for him.
Lunch was a pan of chicken & vegetable soup, so plenty of home cooked food with lots of veg today 😊

Mums, can you get, or have you tried 'Korkers' bangers from Rolvenden? Aunts Sally or Mogs may know them as well!

We get ours from Jempsons of Peasmarsh now, as they don't reach our local shops any more..:0(

Nice normal spicy snags, and also their sausage rolls and chipolatas are pretty good as well!

I don't think we have a local/independent butcher in Ashford any more, such a shame. All we can get is the s/market offerings - so little choice of cut, even with their counter sevice :(

I really value the independent family butchers we have in the village.  Brother of the butcher has a kitchen above it so they do all their own pies and sausage rolls .... brilliant.  Prices are comparable to the supermarket too.  I just wish they were busier ... to be sure that they are going to stick around. We don't help much, as we are going increasingly veggie.   ::)  But their venison sausages call out to me each time I walk past .....

Last night was chicken and cabbage casserole (some meat, a chicken thigh each!), buttered marrow, the last of the beetroot gratin and a wholemeal scone round to mope up the juices.

Tonight - by popular request (ie OH) it is toad (butcher's sausages) in the hole, with roast squash and onion, steamed calabrase (last gasp from the plants), and the rest of the buttered marrow, spoon standing.
All we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about (Charles Kingsley)
